Classes

At Lasting Dog Training, our group classes provide an engaging and supportive environment for both dogs and their owners. These sessions offer an interactive space where your dog can practice focusing around distractions, while also developing important social skills that go beyond basic obedience.

Led by experienced trainers, each class includes practical training exercises, clear guidance, and the opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded dog owners. It’s the ideal mix of structure and fun—helping your dog thrive while you enjoy a shared learning experience.

All dog breeds and sizes are welcome, but up-to-date immunizations are required for participation.

Building Social Skills and

Community

Our group classes bring together dogs of all breeds and sizes, creating the perfect environment for learning essential social skills and practicing obedience around real-world distractions. At Lasting Dog Training, we believe training should be enjoyable—for both dogs and their handlers.

That’s why we’ve designed our group sessions to feel more like a weekly social outing than a formal class. With fun training games, interactive exercises, and a relaxed atmosphere, every session is something to look forward to.

More than just a class, we’re building a community. Friendships form, bonds strengthen, and both dogs and their owners find themselves genuinely enjoying the experience. It’s more than training—it’s connection, growth, and fun, all in one place.

The Lasting Dog Training

Difference

Whether you're attending a group class or an in-home session, our training method remains consistent and effective. At Lasting Dog Training, we use the principles of Classical Conditioning—also known as the Pavlovian method—which has been proven to deliver long-lasting results through positive associations and consistent reinforcement.

We don’t believe in harsh punishments or outdated tools like shock or spray collars. Instead, we use a balanced training approach paired with a modern electronic collar—a gentle tool that delivers a light, attention-getting pulse, similar to the sensation of a leash tug. It’s never used as a punishment, only as a communication tool to keep your dog focused and responsive.

While some training programs rely on fear or intimidation, our method builds trust, confidence, and a genuine desire in your dog to please. We help your dog thrive by nurturing their natural instincts, creating lasting results that come from the heart—not fear.

Benefits of Group

Classes

Just like people, every dog has a unique personality. While some may thrive with one-on-one instruction, others benefit tremendously from the energy and variety of a group setting. Group classes can be an excellent resource for both dogs and their owners, offering real-world challenges, socialization, and shared learning experiences that private sessions alone may not provide.

Socialization

Group dog training classes have a number of benefits, particularly with socialization. Taking a puppy to group classes once they’re immunized will help them grow into a well-socialized dog comfortable with other dogs and humans. Older dogs who weren’t well socialized as puppies can learn to socialize in a small, safe environment. Trainers will recognize signs of possible conflict between dogs and help owners learn how to diffuse situations and take care of their pets, and dogs will learn how to interact appropriately with each other. Dog training classes can also be beneficial for owners! If you bring your dog to a group class, you’ll meet other dog owners and become part of a community. Lasting Dog Training likes to make group classes exciting for both dogs and their owners, so expect to learn fun training games and enjoy an environment that feels less like a class and more like a social outing. Classes meet once a week, and both you and your dog will look forward to going every week.

Besides the socialization benefits, group classes are a great tool for dogs to learn to work around distractions. If your dog is perfectly obedient at home, but loses his or her mind at the dog park and forgets all they’ve learned, group classes are the way to go. Group classes are a safe way to help your dog learn to listen to you, even when they’re surrounded by exciting sights, smells and sounds.

In a dog training class, you are in control of the training. While your pooch may occasionally be used as the ‘demo’ dog, there will be very few instances where your dog only has to listen to the trainer. With a class, you are the trainer, and the instructor is just acting as a guide. With all of Lasting Dog Training’s training options – in-home or through a class – you will always be the No. 1 trainer, not just sitting on the sidelines as someone else takes charge. Each dog is unique, and the small classes at Lasting Dog Training will allow you and your dog to still receive personalized attention and training. You will also have the opportunity to learn from other dogs and their owners. Imagine the trainer advises another owner how to help their dog learn to play independently. Later, you might remember the advice and apply it to your own dog, away from the class.
